Connectors

We can install the following connectors on our products:

Key Width:

2.0mm standard
2.1mm key width is available upon request

Note: PC connections are under severe stress due to the spring loading of the connector. The end face of polarization preserving fiber is under tension due to the internal stress members and is prone to stress cracking. The epoxy that secures the fiber into the ferrule is also a source of stress. The above effects all contribute to cross coupling between the fast and slow axes.

Mechanical tolerances include the key to slot width tolerances from connector to adaptor and ferrule to body clearance that allows spring loading of the ferrule. The effect of these tolerances added to those above contribute to degradation of polarization isolation.

A coupler that has -25dB isolation can be reduced to -20dB with connectors.

Degradation can be minimized by ensuring that ends are scrupulously clean before mating.
